SentencesAs far as we're concerned, there are three main sentence types. These are simple, compound, and complex. Simple: A sentence with only one clause (part). Example; I like football. Compound: A sentence with more than one clause, where both clauses are as important as each other, and could exist on their own. Example; I like football because I enjoy playing sport. Complex: A sentence with more than one clause, where there is a main clause that could stand alone, and also at least one subordinate clause, which could not. Example; I like football when it is sunny. The part written in blue could not stand alone, therefore making it a subordinate clause, and a complex sentence.
